A homeopath will use the information you provide about your symptoms, diet, and lifestyle to determine which medicine will best treat the cause of your symptoms.

Diagnosis and Treatment

Just as a conventional medical doctor must correctly diagnose a problem to prescribe the correct type of medication, a homeopath must also take the time to determine all the symptoms and situations regarding an ailment in order to correctly determine the correct medication. Every aspect of the patient must be taken into consideration before a medicine can be prescribed. Otherwise, the patient won t receive the benefits of homeopathic medicine.

Knowing what symptoms to look at is an important aspect of homeopathy. If you are fully aware of your symptoms, it can help the homeopath make an accurate diagnosis. Once a diagnosis is made, only one medicine will be prescribed to treat the whole body.

When a complaint occurs, pay attention to how your body is reacting. Things you may not consider a symptom may just be. Even those things that have nagged you for so long you almost don t notice them need your attention. Take note of your body and its reactions. Consider things like

- your bowel movements (how often, the consistency, and the color)
- time of month for women (note any irregularities in your menstrual cycle)
- how you sleep (time of day, number of hours, and how you feel when you wake)
- how you feel (mental and emotional state, attitudes, anxiety, etc.)
- the location and type of symptoms (be precise)
- when the symptoms occurred and what caused them (general time of day, where you were, and what you were doing)
- what affects a symptom for better or worse
- sensitivity (type of sensitivity, time of day, and what caused it)
